Work Safely at Heights - RIIWHS204E – Course Information
The Work Safely at Heights course provides practical, hands-on training to ensure you can safely access and work in elevated environments. You’ll learn how to:
- Identify height-related hazards and assess risks
- Apply WHS legislation and site-specific working at heights procedures
- Select, inspect, and correctly use height safety equipment
- Safely use fall-arrest systems, harnesses, anchor points, and ladders
- Plan and perform tasks at heights using approved safe work methods
- Minimise the risk of falls and implement effective control measures
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents involving work at heights
By the end of the course, you’ll be confident performing work at heights safely and in accordance with workplace and regulatory requirements.
Training Delivery & Assessment
To provide the best learning experience, this course is delivered using a blended learning model combining online theory with face-to-face practical training. You’ll be supported throughout the course by an experienced Trainer Assessor.
Step 1 - Online Module (complete within 30 days)
- Self-paced online learning
- Knowledge checks, quizzes, and scenario-based assessments
Step 2 - Face-to-Face Training (1 day)
- Hands-on tasks based on the theory component
You must successfully complete both steps to achieve competency.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal prerequisites. However, students must have:
- Basic computer skills and internet access
- Sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills
- A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - if you don’t have one, you can apply at usi.gov.au or we can assist

Construction Training Fund (CTF - WA)
Eligible apprentices, trainees, workers, and business owners within WA’s building and construction industry may receive subsidies of up to 70% (metro) or 80% (regional) per course. As an approved bulk-billing provider, Summit Training manages the funding paperwork and claims process - meaning you only pay the remaining gap fee while completing your training.
