This refresher course focuses on reinforcing key knowledge and practical skills required to safely test atmospheric conditions in hazardous environments. You’ll refresh your ability to:

  • Identify changes in workplace atmospheric hazards
  • Safely operate and check gas testing equipment
  • Conduct accurate tests for oxygen levels, flammable gases, and toxic contaminants
  • Interpret gas readings and determine appropriate actions
  • Record and communicate gas testing results correctly Maintain and store gas detection equipment

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this refresher course, students must:

  • Have successfully completed Gas Test Atmospheres (MSMWHS217) unit within the last 5 years.

  • Be at least 15 years of age.

  • Have basic computer skills and access to the internet.

  • Have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments.

  • Hold a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.

Students must provide the following evidence:

  • A clear copy of your driver's licence or other photo identification.

  • A Statement of Attainment issued by an RTO confirming successful completion of MSMWHS217.

Note: Wallet cards will not be accepted unless they meet AQF requirements for an accredited Statement of Attainment.

Important Information:

  • To avoid delay in processing and issuing your Statement of Attainment, please ensure payment or a company purchase order is provided at enrolment.

  • If you are submitting a USI transcript, it must include a QR verification code.

  • If the student does not meet the refresher eligibility requirements and is required to complete the full course, an additional assessment fee will apply for the practical training and assessment component. This can be delivered at any of our training facilities across Australia.
